Both Yamaha Silent Violin and Electric Violin are considered "electric" – what's the difference?
Answer:
With a Silent Violin you have two functions: practice with headphones, or you can plug it in and play out through your amp. A Yamaha Electric (YEV) Series violin has one main function – plug in and play amplified. In short, Silent Violin (SV) = headphone option; Electric Violin (YEV) = plug into an amp.
Inspired Design
Möbius strip-like shape provides continuity between front and back. Three-dimensional form is designed to appeal to the audience when performing live.
Feel
The lightweight design, natural touch points and curves allow the player to effortlessly move between the YEV and a standard acoustic violin. The instrument’s shape allows for most standard shoulder, chin rests and tailpieces.
