    Description

    c. 1948 Vega D-46 Duotron. They don’t get any cooler than this, but… they do get in a LOT better condition. Actually, rock solid and restored, but very well “loved”. Solid spruce top with laminate maple back and sides. An early Boston Vega body version. Came to me years ago with no guard or pup, and I’ve played it extensively as an acoustic archtop. I finally took the time to make a guard and matching pup housing. BTW, I put Teisco Ry Cooder gold-foil guts inside, so it has very old-school tone that I presume might be a decent match for the original. A new owner could modernize it at any time, as any high quality mini-humbucker could easily be swapped into the housing. Top looks pretty good, but there is obviously heavy player wear on the back. Player wear on the upper bass bout side too. Very solid but kind of ham-handed old neck reset. The joint is tight and the angle is great, but they should have done a better job at lining up the seam along the front. BTW, the new guard and pup housing are made of 1/8” thick solid faux tortoise acrylic, not the cheapo printed stuff. Output jack modernized to a ¼” plug, but I have the original radio plug and it’s included. Comes in a structurally solid but cosmetically rough Guild hardshell case. Nice player, and just oozes cool.
NOTE: USA regulations under the CITES convention (trade in endangered species) have finally been loosened to allow easy international shipping of vintage instruments, unless they contain BRAZILIAN rosewood (Dahlbergia nigra). Unfortunately, the fretboard and bridge on this guitar are likely Brazilian, so it still cannot be shipped internationally without an expensive and time-consuming permit process.
UPDATE: Ebay now demands that we sellers give THIRTY DAYS for returns. Sorry, but NO WAY. Any honest buyer will know within a few days whether there is any need for a return. I no longer take returns through Ebay, but I will never "stick" another musician with a guitar. Please contact me if there any problems, and we'll work it out.
