Master 4/4 violin by Stefano Trabucchi from Cremona, Italy
built 2020
The violin was modeled after the Guarneri del Gesu "Lord-Wilton" by Menuhin in 1742.
One of the most famous and important violins by the great Cremonese master.
Trabucchi's violin was built from a selection of high quality woods. The maple used for building comes from Bosnia. It was seasoned for more than 10 years before being used. This is to promote the stability of the instrument and the acoustic properties. It has an exceptional grain, very deep and regular across the entire width of the violin. The sides are made of the same piece of wood as the back of the violin.
The spruce top comes from the Val di Fiemme in the north of the Italian Alps. The area is the best known for this type of wood. In fact, even Stradivari procured from the same woods. The top has a regular and evenly beautiful grain.
The violin's varnish is based on alcohol, which was made by Maestro Trabucchi himself. The dyes are natural. The finish is based on pad shellac.
