Description
This is a late Sixties Japanese made Rosewood Lyle with X-bracing. The guitar has been set-up, and is ready to play. This guitar comes bundled with a nice, though used, serviceable, fully functioning, case without the key. (Sorry! I never had the key.)As with many of these craftmanship-intensive Japanese-made clones, this guitar straight from the factory had excellent tonal quality, and played like a dream.
This guitar measures 40 and 1/2 inches top to bottom excluding the strap button. The lower bout is 15 inches wide. The body length is 19 and 3/8ths inches. The body depth is narrow, at its maximum 3 and 7/8ths inches at its widest point.
The length from the nut to the saddle is 25 and 5/8ths. This guitar has a "zero" fret.
(Look at the pictures.) The tuners are the old style used to closely resemble the look of early Martins. The turning knobs are made of a chrome covered copper alloy. One has the chrome peeled off. (see pictures and look closely at the high "E" string knob) These tuners are fifty-plus years old, and still working perfectly.
Action is low for this type guitar so it can be played all the way up the fret board.
When this guitar was set-up the action and intonation were set-up better than most new guitars sold today. An intonation-adjusted saddle has replaced the original straight saddle.
