OLD ANTIQUE HOPF VIOLIN STAMPED with Case, For Repair.
This was purchased from the East Coast USA from the estate of a professional violinist named Steinmetz. There were multiple violins available, and I felt assured this would be a decent instrument.
It was assumed to be in playable condition at the time of purchase. It has a lovely tone, but I soon discovered there are some small cracks to repair and I didn’t want to damage it further by keeping the strings installed.
I’m passing this on to a repair person/you to take it to the next level, as I have too many other projects.
Photos show the lower center of the belly cracks. The peg box might have a crack in it. Perhaps the end button needs readjusting, since it has a slight angle.
You could string it up and get an idea of the sound before doing any work.
Comes with a hard case in good-condition. String tube is not included, but the violin comes with a bridge, tail piece, pegs (check case pocket), old strings, and soundpost (still installed).
