Interesting Old Antique Full size violin is being auctioned off to the highest bidder regardless of price!
The violin has been extremely played on, as you can see, a good sign indicating that previous owners clearly thought very highly of the violin and enjoyed playing it!
With all the scars, nicks and scratches from over one hundred plus years of being played by countless players to prove it!
Best of all the violin has no damage or repairs around the sound post or bass bar area. The neck, pegbox and scroll are in good healthy condition. The top has fully repaired hairline as noted on picture # 11 and a repaired crack to the lower back’s left side. With other minor dings and signs of use typical of a well-used antique violin as you would expect. All joints and seams are tight and sealed.
The violin does not have a tag / label inside the violin and measures 14 1/8” inches from the back.
Strong, solid old-world workmanship throughout!
With carefully laid out purfling, nicely cut scroll,
well defined corners and accurately done edges
. Elegant curves & overall contour makes the violin attractive to the eye!
Golden brown varnish covers the gorgeous tiger flamed two-piece maple back with matching ribs, neck and scroll. The
table is made of a straight fine to medium grain spruce.
Excellent choice of well season tone wood throughout!
The violin was most likely made in the late 19
th
century if not later!
Definitely a wonderful player violin, that will make for an excellent workhorse instrument.
