    Description

    Guild F-44 BLD Acoustic Guitar
This Guild F-44 BLD (blond finish) acoustic guitar, serial # KH 100177 (1985) is in very good condition. This model was designed by Vintage Guitar guru George Gruhn when he worked as a designer for Guild in the 1980s. This model was considered a mini-Jumbo with a 16” body width, and only 266 were made between 1984 and 1989.
There is some lacquer checking on the top and the back of the neck, and chipping around the nut. There was a finish repair round the neck heel. But the finish overall is extra fine with only minimal scratches – it’s buffed to a high gloss showing the maple wood figure of the back, sides and neck – the top is solid spruce.
The frets and fret board show only the lightest wear. The nut is 1 11/16” wide, the scale length is 25.5” and there are 20 frets (14 clear of the body). The tortoiseshell plastic pick guard is a replacement. There is a G “shield” inlay on the peghead. The fretboard and bridge are ebony.
The truss rod is adjustable at the peg head. The fret board is bound and there are large pearl “notched diamond” inlays to mark the fret positions.
The guitar was recently set up and evaluated by a professional luthier. The neck adjustment is straight (1/64” clearing between the strings and the top of the 7
    th
fret). Action with .012-.054 strings is 3/32 clearance on the bass side and 2/32 clearance on the treble side under the strings at the 12
    th
    fret.
This guitar plays well and has a bright ringing tone like most maple guitars. Like other Guild instruments from this era, the guitar still has depth in the bass, making for a balanced sound
    Th
ere is a nice Takamine hard case.
