    Description

    A Connecticut Pay Table document used to pay Capt. Charles Miel, of Preston, Connecticut, Fourteen Pounds Seven Shillings on Apr. 26, 1783 at Hartford.  The document is signed by  Oliver Wolcott, Jr. (1760-1833) and Hezekiah Rogers (1753-1811). and endorsed on the reverse by Charles Miel and Josiah Norton.  Oliver Wolcott, Jr. was the son of Oliver Wolcott, signer of the Declaration of Independence.  He served as Secretary of the Treasury during the administration of President George Washington and as the 24th Governor of Connecticut.  Hezekiah Rogers was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives who served as a delegate to the Connecticut Convention to ratify the United States Constitution.
