Description
Civil War Riflemans Buckle J. Howard Wert Gettysburg Collection. Wert was an officer in the 209th Pennsylvania Infantry during the war. He was born in Adams County near Gettysburg and graduated from Gettysburg College. After the war he would walk the battlefield and collect relics. This is one of those relics. His Gettysburg Collection became one of the best document Gettysburg collections around. This rifleman’s buckle is in very good preserved condition. One side of the buckle is gone and the buckle was most likely discarded in the field. Wert had this in his collection for years. It is fully guaranteed to be authentic as described. It will come a copy of the original sale letter of authenticity from The Horse Soldier in Gettysburg. Relics from the Wert Collection are just not available anymore. Very rarely do you find relics collected by an officer who fought in the war. This is a fantastic collectible. It will come in the pictured wood and glass display case.
