    Antique Violin Mathias Hornsteiner 1872 Label Gustav Schindler Bow Flamed Back.
    Here is a great looking old violin with a Mathias Hornsteiner label with 1872 date and also has small red tag/ label on edge of label that reads made in Czechoslovakia. Quality of the wood selection on this violin is very good. Back measures approx 14” in length with bouts that measure 8” and 6 1/2”. Overall condition looks good for its age, top has an old repaired crack on treble side up from bottom, there is a crack in the treble side f hole to the purfling, otherwise looks solid. Also looks like the sides were re-glued at some point in time.
    Bow is marked Gustav Schindler, it has a bit of a warp in it but looks like a better than average bow. Comes in the original period case with the nice zip up cover.
