A nice older violin here.
This violin has a label in it that says "D Nicolas Aine".  This was a  trade name used by the Laberte and Magnie shops in Mirecourt region of France.
The impression inside the violin appears to have age to it, just wiped away the dust/grime with a Q-tip.  We would guess that this violin dates to the latter 1800s to early 1900s period.
This fine violin is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a fine luthier shop or high end auction house.
We have been selling fine items out of our home for over 35 years.  We are therefore better positioned to control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the luthier shops and higher end auction houses pass on to their clients

The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this violin.  The violin has a one piece belly and one piece back.  Exceptional fine graining to the wood on the belly.  Beautiful tiger maple striping on the back of the violin.  Nice darkish brown stain on the entire violin.   Some finish loss, and scratching to the wood from use.
A number of hairlines on the belly of the violin that will need repair attention, see pics.  Some appear to be older repairs.  Most notable are one running from bottom of violin to the bottom of the right f hole.  Another from the saddle at the bottom of the violin that almost goes up to the top of the tailpiece.   We see a few small hairlines and repairs on the back of the violin body up by the neck.
Nice inlaid purfling (all intact on both sides), f hole, and scroll work.
The corner blocks are in place.  The beaks look good.  The soundboard and back are tightly glued to the sides other than the one issued noted already, no other separations to report.  There appears to have been a repair to the side of the violin down to the left and right of the end pin.  Another old repair up on right side where neck comes into the body.
The sound post is up inside the violin body.  No guarantee it will be after shipping.  Nice one piece back on this fiddle and we see no cracks or repairs on it to report.  The back's finish has a translucent look to it.  The nut, chin rest, bridge, strings and tailpiece are in place.  Strings are older and expect they will need replacing.
4 nice matching tuning pegs.  They appear to be made of ebony.  Tuner box and scroll of the violin are still intact.  Some miscellaneous strings in packs, rosin, tuner still in case.
The violin is 23.5" long, by 8-5/16" across at the lower bout, and 6-11/16" across at the upper bout.  The violin body is 14-1/8" long.
This violin does comes with a violin case that is in nice shape on the inside and out.  Nice green interior.
Latches work and the key for the lock on the case is with it.

This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition.  There will need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again.
