    Description

... What a great old, all original, guitar to find hanging in a music store. Looks great and plays well.... Walking through a buddy's music store and he has this hanging on the wall. I picked it up and was suprised at how it was all original, looked great. The old catalog guitar was sticky. Old Kraftsman was a house brand for Montgomery Wards back in the day. You could buy this guitar through their catalog and have it shipped to your door. Anyway, I purchased the guitar and tried to get the sticky out of it. The sticky part was on the neck and it was nicotine and Aqua Net hairspray.... I'm a child of the 60s and I can spot Aqua Net every time. My sister would take that hairspray and get her hair all ratted up in a big ol thing on her head. You could hide a six pack of beer in that beehive hairdo of hers.. Wiped all the gooey stuff off and wiped the dust off the guitar. Its like a time machine and it's 1960 again.... This model was made from 1960-1965. When Kay made their first 17" archtop cutaways in 1952 one of the models was a K-1. That model was made until 1956 and then resurrected in 1960 as the K8950. Spruce top and maple back and sides. Neck is skinny and its a good player. Has just a little relief on the treble side. String action is adjustable with the bridge. No cracks. Binding is good all over the guitar. Has tarnish on the pickguard bracket. Normal bumps and bruises for being played. Has some little chips in the finish. Normal finish crazing for age.... Will ship in a box in a box. I don't have a case big enough or a bag big enough for this guitar.... Look over the pictures carefully. Ask all the questions that you have.
