    Description

In mid 1955 Gibson releases the natural top Super Jumbo Natural (SJN) Country Western guitar that came with a Sitka Spruce top and Honduran Mahogony sides and back as a sister model to the Super Jumbo. It came with a new paper rope label only used for that first year. 1955 Gibsons started with the W in the serial number. This one is W3113 27. It featured split deluxe parallelogram pearl inlays. These original Country Westerns as well as the Super Jumbos had the round shoulders until the early 60s when both models and the Hummingbirds went to a square shoulder design. Found in a Brooklyn NY, record shop window in late 70s with top partially off and broken original tuning keys. In early 90s, Carlo Grecco, of Guild and Gretsch fame from his first solo shop on West 47th Street in Manhattan did repair the top and put new Grovers tuning keys on. In 2014 Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island NYC did a fret job. It is sold used and as is strickly. No returns. Has 66 years of wear and tear including scratches but a beautiful piece of wood with many songs left inside it. Will hand deliver from NYC to North Carolina on east coast within 7 days of purchase. Plays beautifully comes in 5 year old hard tweed case.
