1830's Giant Stamped Brass Eagle Flags & Cannons Volunteer Militia Cap Plate

Description

Large pre Civil War stamped brass volunteer militia eagle cap or hat plate. It is a fancy eagle with flags, cannons, 5-point stars, rifle, lances, and cannon balls plate with a floral border. These early plates were attached to the fronts of bell crown hats, tar bucket helmets, and other early militia headgear. The reverse has both original iron hat attachment loops and the tinned iron plume holder
soldered on. It measures 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" in size. It has some scratches, some little bends, and has been polished. The last picture shows it with several other plates I am listing.
