This viola is a high quality contemporary instrument suitable for the advanced player. Characterized by a nuanced, warm tone with rich resonance and complex overtones. Excellent balance across the entire range. Good projection.
In my understanding, the "Gioconda" brand name is used by for marketing Ming Jiang Zhu instruments in the Japan market. The Gioconda is the "deluxe" version of his No. 903 model and is distinguished by the meticulous tonewood selection, artful antique finish, and top-grade fittings. The brand new price for the Gioconda No. 903 in Japan was approximately ,500.
This viola is in a very good - essentially, mint - condition. It has very little, if any, playing "mileage." There are no cracks, repairs, seam separations, blemishes, or detectable scratches. Play-ready. Equipped with high-grade strings (Pirastro Obligato, which alone retail for 7 on Amazon).
